• Question: do you think that gravity proves that the earth is round. if so, why?

      Hi Maegan!

      I think gravity would definitely help the Earth become more round because everything would be pulled to the centre of mass (the centre of the Earth) and naturally it would be a sphere. But because Earth is spinning its not perfectly round. The Earths spin causes the earth to bulge out at the equator.

      The Earth is pretty round though and we don’t need gravity to prove it. We can see pictures of it from space. Also we can see that other planets (like Mars and Jupiter) are round so it would be really strange if we were the odd one out.
